The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Salinas, California

We are pleased to announce the call and acceptance of The Rev. Linda Campbell, as our Priest in Charge.  Rev. Linda will be starting on June 15.

Linda was ordained in 2003 after completing her Masters in Anglican Studies at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 2002.  She has served as the Interim Rector at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Albany , CA since 2006 where she has been responsible for the liturgical, sacramental and administrative duties of the parish.  She brings experiences and gifts in small group spiritual formation, preaching, pastoral care, outreach (including multi-generational mission trips), children’s and adult education, capital and stewardship campaigns, intergenerational worship service, development of lay ministry, and building renovation just to name a “few” of her many gifts.

Prior to her ministry at St. Alban’s she was Associate Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross, CA from 2004-2006, Assistant Rector at Church of the Incarnation in Santa Rosa, CA from 1995-2004, and Christian Education Director at Christ Church United Methodist in Santa Rosa, CA from 1992-1994.

Linda has also been an elementary school teacher and owned and operated a licensed preschool and daycare for eight children. Linda is happily single and is the proud mother of four adult children---daughters, Lyra, Ella, and Megan, and son, Kai.

When asked, “What gifts do you feel you bring to enrich our parish?”  Linda responded: 

“I bring the gifts of optimism, of courage and hope, of a deep and faithful prayer life.  I bring the gifts of strategic planning, of a hunger and curiosity for learning, of a strong desire to have the church make a lasting impact in the community in which it is located.  I bring the gift of “glue” – of building and nurturing Christian communities that stick together and organize around a mission and core values to work for something beyond their own survival and who have fun too!  I bring the gifts of preaching and teaching and pastoral care.
