About Us
The
Church of the Good Shepherd in Corral de Tierra was born in 1955 out of
the vision and dedication of our first Vicar, the Rev. Jerome Politzer,
friends and sponsors from St. Paul’s, Salinas, and the support of the
Diocese of California. Father Politzer recognized the need for a place of
worship in these rural canyons, so aptly named “the pastures of
heaven” by novelist, Salinas native, John Steinbeck.
