Before
setting a date for a wedding, anyone contemplating marriage
involving the Good Shepherd premises or its clergy will need to
make an appointment to consult with the parish Rector, the Rev.
Patricia Barrett. There are specific canons (requirements) for
marriage in the Episcopal Church. For example, if either party has
obtained a civil divorce, their proposed marriage still needs to
be approved by our Bishop, and the rector will advise you about
that. The couple may expect to meet with the rector for consults
and for counseling several times before marrying.
The
Church also has a provision for the blessing of a civil marriage
that has already taken place.
