Afterschool Play October 22-Nov. 2

After School Newsletter

Dear After School Families:

The children have been working hard on making our fall tree art board.  We recently added a pile of painted pumpkins that the children love looking at and telling other children which one theirs is.  Another thing we have been working on is practicing writing our names.  In our after-school drawers, which is available to them during our inside play time, there is dry erase makers with fun shapes to trace along with their names.  They really enjoy doing this with friends and learning how to trace other children’s names.  We have also been working on our site words through a game called “Zingo”.  It’s a lot like Bingo but instead of numbers their air sight words to help them practice associating the picture with the word.   This was given to us by a parent in the Backpacker Class and we really do enjoy playing this game.

Our October Focus:

Finishing the month of October, we will be doing a special pumpkin project called “The Tale of Spooky”.  This story is about a pumpkin who has a square form, while the other pumpkins are round.  It deals with being kind to others who may be different from others.  We will making our own Spookys and discussing kindness.  Another fun project that we will be doing is decorating pumpkins.  Once the pumpkins are dry, I will put them above their cubbies so they can take them home.

Field Trip:

Thursday, October 25th is the Toro field trip to the pumpkin patch for the Kindergartners and TK classes.  This also means that this is a minimum day. Please contact me if to expect your child at pick up. This helps us communicate to the Teachers at Toro who is coming with us. Thank You!

Costume Change:

October 31st is the costume parade and the Fall Festival for the children at Toro.  Please pack extra play clothes for the children that day who come to the grange.  We will do a costume change so they don’t get dirty before you go trick or treating.

No Show Email or Text:

We do care if we do not see your child during their normal pick up.  Emailing or texting will give us a good reference to keep track during pick up.  My email is laura.n.alvarez23@gmail.com and cell is 831-915-3324.

Have a terrific week, Miss Laura and the afternoon team!
