Preschool News from Miss Sandy September 21-28

Dear Families, we are sure off to a great year.  It is so wonderful to be in the classroom with your children.  We have such an amazing program and wonderful teachers.

Our first All School Chapel will be October 3 and 4.  This is when you come in to the church with your child for 10-15 minutes.  Pastor Linda will be blessings animals.  October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis –he is the patron saint of animals.  You may bring your child’s real pet, a photo of your pet, a stuffed animal, or even your special lovie and she will bless them.

Parent Gathering Recap: Thank you to those who could attend, Caitlin, Wilson, Shardonnay Macias, Shelly Kaprielian, Natalie Haney, Iris Allesandro, Chelsi Bunting, Elizabeth Joyce, Claudia Santora, Rachel Galli, Amy Taylor, Christopher Isobe, Brynn Kaufman, Elisa Cavaliere, Katie Kontos, Lindsay Kissell, Jennifer Tjerrild, Jennifer Bartley, Ana Seid, Nicci DeRoza, Paula Gheen, Catherine Seo, Kelly Smorzewski, Bill Shelby, Kate Kanow!  Great turn out – sign up sheets were out with different committees for our big Fun!Raiser and we have a good start to a fun event in March.

We discussed children’s lunches and how the school is helping children understand how the food they eat helps their bodies grow.  A reminder that children do not need chips and desserts in their lunch.  The teachers say that for the most part children are coming with wonderful lunches and not sending lots of sugary foods!

Carrying your child into school – Parents were reminded to have their child walk into school with their lunch and put things where they belong by themselves.  This helps them become more independent and more confident in their abilities.

Thank you to Elizabeth Joyce, Laci’s mom in the Backpackers for offering to chair our Fun!Raiser dinner dance this year and to Iris Allesandro, Kai’s mom in the MWF Purple family for co-chairing with Elizabeth and to  Amy Taylor, Clare’s mom in the TTH Yellow family for chairing the Fundraising piece of the Event.  Thank you to Shardonnay Macia, Nora’s mom in the Blue family for being the Room Parent Coordinator. We had many parents sign up to help with the Fun!Raiser event.  We had planned on February 23 for the date but that is the same date as the Washington Union fundraiser so we are looking more into March right now.

Mixed Bag Fundraiser: Thank you Katie Kontos, Zach’s mom in the TTH Yellow family for running the mixed bags and decorating the bulletin boards.  Ordering begins Monday and goes for three weeks!

Would you like to help out? One more volunteer position that was not filled was “New Mommy Meal.”  This position helps get a meal train going for a new mommy or for others in distress.  Just give a call or send an email if you would like to volunteer for this

The Fun!Raiser event – will be held at the Amaral Barn this year.  We have never had a fundraiser there before so I am very excited.
