Scholastic Book Fair Jan. 28-Feb. 1: We are very excited to have Scholastic Book Fair come to Good Shepherd. I will need volunteers to help with the fair. It will be held in the library room at the church site. I will need volunteers to help at 8:30 and 12:30 each day. Jan. 28-Feb.1. A sign-up sheet will be out soon. Your child can come early or stay late so that you can volunteer I have an IPAD that connects to Scholastic and Scholastic does not charge any extra for credit card charges.
STEM, STEAM, METALS and Newsletter change: STEM is a word that I am sure you are hearing about in the school system. It stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The STEAM adds Art. And The METALS adds Art and Literature. It is so nice to see that elementary schools are taking interest into what our Play-based program/curriculum has been doing for years, more hands on and creative thinking skills. The teachers will format their newsletters in a way that you will be able to see through the acronyms of STEM, STEAM, or METALS what areas they are working on with your children.
Read-O Burrit-O Evening! January 30, 5:30-6:30 ish this is such a fun event for your preschooler. Children wear their pajamas and grown-ups can too!! We will have a sign-up sheet for all the fixings for a burrito making. Last year we did spaghetti and meatballs and the children made the meatballs – not sure what the children will make this year but we will keep you posted.
After we have eaten, I will have different areas set up for “Special Readers” (That’s YOU!) to read two to three books to children in small groups. There will be popcorn at reading time. I will have a sign-up sheet for Readers as well. The children (and parents) can wear their pajamas, bring blankets or sleeping bags, and enjoy some books. It is from 5:30 – 6:30 so make sure you are here on time – We start eating at 5:30 -6:00 then books and popcorn 6-6:30. It is so much fun! And just the right amount of time.
22st Annual Fun!Raiser, March 2: Get ready, get set, for a fun evening at the Amaral Barn with amazing food and live music! There are donation forms on the sign-in table. Take a form and see what you can get donated for the preschool’s event! Tickets are available online on the Facebook page. Invite people!
Extra Clothing Please check your child’s extra clothing as they may have grown! Just in the two weeks break there was a lot of growth. The weather is cold in the morning so make sure the children are dressed in layers and warm! As we still play hard at school and get wet and muddy; children need extra clothes at school every day. Thank you, Sandy
