Our Children, Youth & Family Ministry Philosophy & Goals

Church of the Good Shepherd is dedicated to the idea of inter-generational worship and service. Our CYF Ministry goals focus on the Parish's mission to "exemplify excellence in inter-generational worship and service." We work with a team of volunteers from the parish to:

* Lead children and youth in a faith journey to learn and understand what the Bible teaches, and develop their relationship with God and the Church;

* Provide regular opportunities to participate in outreach and service as a family;

* Provide young adults opportunities to participate in Church Ministry and to become faith leaders in the Church;

* Help to develop a Ministry in which all families seeking God find welcome and love.

Sunday Morning Children, Youth & Family Faith Opportunities

Little Music Makers (9:15 – 9:45) Especially for families with younger children! We explore musical concepts through games and movement. Every Sunday begins and ends with prayers and songs of praise to God, our Maker and Redeemer.

10:00 Sunday Service

Pre-K Children: Our youngest parishioners are invited to our nursery, where our Nursery Leader provides a welcoming environment for music and play.Children are also welcome in the Service!

Children's Chapel (K-4th Grade): This program introduces children to the stories and lessons of the Bible. Let by a team of volunteers, the curriculum follows the same gospel text of the main church service. Through art, story, conversation and teaching, children learn Bible basics and what this means in their lives, at an age appropriate level.

Youth Group (5th-9th Grade): The goal of our Youth Group program is to provide our young parishioners with the resources and opportunities they need to develop into adults of faith. To this end, our regular Sunday Youth Group consists of Bible Study, where we learn how to study the Bible, and what lessons we may learn from it. The first Sunday of every month is “Youth Leadership Sunday,” where our Youth Group members participate in our service as ushers, readers, and other positions.

Additional Activities

Coffee Connection (Thursdays at 9:00am): A social hour for parents and guardians of preschool-aged children. We meet weekly in the Parish Hall for conversation, coffee, and the occasional guest speaker.

Monthly Youth Activity: Once a month, our Youth Group performs an act of service and volunteerism. These typically take place in conjunction with the Sunday worship service.
