Christmas Casseroles for Neighborhood Services Center

As you may be aware First United Methodist Church in Salinas hosts a Neighborhood Services Center for those who are homeless or struggling to retain their housing.  Good Shepherd supports their ministry by preparing and serving lunch to the homeless every other Thursday.  We would like to provide breakfast casseroles for First United to serve on Christmas morning and are asking for your support.

 Here are the details . . .
We’d like to deliver 10 pre-baked breakfast casseroles to First United in the early afternoon of December 24th.  Would you be willing to bake a casserole?  Recipes from which to choose are posted below, or you might have your own favorite that you’d like to prepare.  Please deliver your casserole in a 9 x 13 disposable pan on the 24th, either to the Good Shepherd parish hall between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. or to the Knapp’s at 109 San Benancio Road before 12:00 noon. Tape a note to your dish that indicates the type of casserole you've made. The Knapp’s will make the delivery by 1:00 that afternoon.  If you'd like to participate, please email me by Friday, December 22.  Questions? -- Contact Alice by email or at 235-4353 and thank you for helping to serve our brothers and sisters in need.  Once we have our 10 casseroles “spoken for,” I will let you know.

In faith and gratitude,
Tim and Alice

We pray for those of us with warm houses and comfortable beds
that we not be lulled into complacency and forgetfulness.
Jesus, help us to see your face in the eyes of every homeless person
we meet so that we may be empowered through word and deed,
and through the political means we have, to bring justice
and peace to those who are homeless.  Amen.
