Art Workshops for San Pablo Seaside
Plans are underway to hold Art Workshops for the children of San Pablo Seaside, our neighbor. Carol Lowrey has taken this project on as an exciting contribution to our tutoring program.
These workshops, led by Carol in late July, will offer three days of 2-hour workshops for kids grades 3-4, and four days of workshops for kids 5 - 8th grade. High school kids can join this group if there is room or a workshop may be planned in August if school permits. Younger children (K-3 grade) have an existing San Pablo program.
Being worked out at the present time are the time, dates, and the choices of possible projects, which will depend on what the kids have interest in, or what will help them with school projects. These choices will include:
COLLAGE Self-portrait, bright abstract, or flowers/still life with hand-painted and textured paper, or posters for a school assignment.WATERCOLOR Three kinds of trees, flowers, desert scene, seascape, or abstract.
DRAWING Birds (in oil pastel), Still Life (in oil pastel), Animals (from photos in pencil or charcoal) Self Portrait for grade 4 and up (in pencil)
PRINTMAKING Monoprints, Chalk stencils, Relief prints, Watercolor leaf prints.
PAPER SCULPTURE Folded paper white masks, or papier mache Animal masks (grades 6&7).
