An Ancient & New Tradition: Dinner Church

For the last several months members of the Parish and the wider community have been gathering to prepare a meal, eat, break bread, and worship. We call it Dinner Church. While this is a different kind of sacred then what we experience every Sunday morning , the ritual of preparing food with my community for my community is some holy mixture of sacred chaos. It is old in that we know the earliest churches met over shared meals—when Jesus started Communion he started it over a dinner table. It is not hard to imagine the disciples elbow deep in sudsy water cleaning up together after.

We hope that this model is something you will find easier to invite your friends and family too. If you haven’t had a chance to check  out Dinner Church, join us in December to come caroling with the Youth Group and later to share a simple meal.

On December 16th we will meet at 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd to begin Caroling. After, we will make Pizza’s together. Please bring your own drinks.

The youth group and others are invited to meet with Izabelle on December 15th in the Parish Hall to make Pizza Dough for Dinner Church beginning at 4 p.m. Bring snacks to share.
