A Path for Prayer and Presence

A Path for Prayer and Presence —

Our Labyrinth

Our labyrinth is a sacred space designed for walking meditation and prayer. Unlike a maze, it has only one path that leads gently to the center and back out again. This simple journey invites you to slow down, quiet your mind, and listen more deeply for God’s presence.

Walking the labyrinth usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on your pace and how much time you wish to spend in reflection at the center. Many people find it helpful to bring an intention, a question, or simply a desire to be present with God as they walk.

To support your time on the path, we offer a walking prayer booklet with simple suggestions and reflections.

Whether you come alone for quiet reflection, bring a friend, or join others for a guided walk, we hope this ancient practice becomes a meaningful part of your spiritual journey here at Good Shepherd.

In Grateful Memory

This labyrinth exists because of the vision and generosity of two beloved members of our community whose legacies continue to bless all who walk here.

Betsy Schoenstadt (1942–2015) dreamed of creating a place where people could walk in quiet meditation and prayer. Her generous estate gift, together with additional contributions given in her honor by members of the community, made the construction of this labyrinth possible.

Lloyd Lowrey (1946–2018) had a deep love for the sacredness and beauty of the land. A portion of his estate, along with gifts given in his memory, was dedicated to developing an outdoor spiritual sanctuary. This vision helped bring the labyrinth into being and continues to support the growth of outdoor worship and reflection opportunities at Good Shepherd.

We give thanks for Betsy and Lloyd, and for everyone who contributed to this living gift. May all who walk this path experience the peace, presence, and beauty they helped make possible.

“Show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.” (Psalm 25:4)
